Transparency in Leadership
Jerry was invited to speak at a C12 local leadership summit luncheon in Pennsylvania this summer. He spoke on Transparency in Leadership. He built upon an idea inspired by Craig Groeschel: Transparency + Empathy + Consistency = Trust.
“It’s obvious to everybody in the room that I am in a wheelchair. It would be pretty silly for me to pretend or try to convince you I’m not in a wheelchair.
Here’s the deal. You can see my wheelchair. Your team needs to see yours. Whether you are dealing with family issues or going through a divorce. Whatever you are undergoing, your team needs to see the truth. They probably already do.
Your team will benefit from knowing you know they know because you told them and allow them to speak into it.”
Jerry delved into the importance of open and honest communication within the realm of leadership. He highlighted the significance of transparency in building trust and fostering strong relationships between leaders and their subordinates. The lack of transparency can lead to misunderstandings, rumors, and a strained work environment. By practicing transparency, leaders build trust and promote employee engagement and growth.
